While I may never forget the bald-spotted walls on my college apartment’s walls, I will at least never allow them in my home again.
I wish I learned earlier that repairing texture on interior surfaces could cost less than a textbook. The can of spray texture worked great!
A Contractor’s Secret
Running the can under warm water will give you a finer spray pattern… much more attractive than the dime size bumps of the 60’s. Practice your spray technique on a piece of cardboard or scrap drywall before applying to your wall. Follow the instructions specific to the texture spray you chose. If you make a mistake while spraying, remove the texture before it dries with a drywall knife and spray again.
Be a Picky Painter
When getting ready to spruce up a room with a fresh coat of paint, be sure to fix those dents and nail holes by spackling and finishing with the texture pattern on the rest of walls. Choose the texture that best suits your project and your home. For small projects like a few bald spots or uneven surfaces, a single can of spray texture should do the trick. While browsing the shelves, you might even find a color-changing spray texture, which acts as a visual timer by spraying on one color, and drying white. Don’t worry about the color of the wall just yet; focus on matching the right texture and amount, and add the paint later. For entire rooms or walls, consider pro spray guns, which are more cost-effective for larger areas.
